Biography
More Than 40 Years Across Architecture, Development & Construction
Jim Gross brings more than 40 years of experience across architecture, real estate development, and construction. His career includes experience as a practicing architect, as well as earlier field experience working for a large national general contractor as a field engineer. That combination gave him both a design and technical foundation and direct exposure to the realities of construction in the field.
His experience later expanded into real estate development and the execution of construction projects, giving him a perspective that crosses the traditional boundaries between architect, contractor, developer, and owner. That breadth allows him to evaluate a project not from a single discipline, but from the standpoint of how design, economics, contracts, construction, schedule, cost, quality, and completion interact.
Jim’s project experience ranges from single-family residential work through multifamily, commercial, and high-rise construction, including wood-frame, structural steel, masonry, and concrete-frame construction. His value lies in the breadth of that experience and his ability to understand complex project issues from multiple perspectives—not specialization in any single building type.
Jim Gross Consulting is not a traditional construction-management or project-administration firm. The practice is built around direct senior-level involvement, experienced judgment, analysis, practical problem-solving, and helping clients determine what is actually happening on a project and what needs to be done next.

Experience
A Practical Perspective
The firm supports clients involved in real estate development, construction consulting, owner’s representation, project evaluation, troubled-project assessment, dispute analysis, and closeout consulting. Each engagement is approached with attention to facts, actual conditions, practical solutions, and the business consequences of every decision.
That breadth of experience is especially valuable when projects become complex, contested, or time-sensitive. Rather than emphasizing any single building type as a specialty, Jim Gross brings experienced judgment, practical problem solving, and a broad understanding of how different project types and construction systems affect risk, execution, and the path forward.
